Object of Desire

20 in. x 20 in. Oil on Canvas. The elegant contours of these Jimmy Choo took over and evolved into a quieter painting sans the script lettering that one time filled the lower third. The curves of the shoes echo in the surrounding space to lead your eyes and create a symphony of shapes.

Jimmy Choo in Progress 2

20 in. x 20 in. Oil on Canvas. Shoes are so much like figures. Proportions are so important to believability. Masssaged the heel and back view of the shoe today, still not there yet in weight and proportion. Will get it right tomorrow. The arrangement of the shoes feel right in the square and pulls your eye around and around. I like the visual connection between the script and the straps. The line is a Toni Basil’s “Mickey” song reference for all us 80’s fans.

Wet Paint in Progress

Perfect Square 20 in. x 20 in. Oil on Canvas. “Oh Jimmy You’re So Fine”. Shoes that are the epitome of sexy by Jimmy Choo. I will post deets on the process. Laid a base of wet paint to push and pull the form in a loose discovery of the proportions and how it should fill the space. The thin black straps, luxe animal print and the soft camel-colored footbed are candy to paint.

Fun size 8 in. x 10 in. Oil on Canvas. A cocktail with beautiful colors to paint that exude the feeling of a tropical vacay. Presented as moment to savor on a bed of palms and coupled with coconut halves.

mojito_oil

16 in. x 20 in. Oil on Canvas. The classic mojito, an Ernest Hemingway fav, tall and stylish, geometric fractals of ice and mint cut through the violet shadows of a SoFla afternoon, the triangles of sailboats in the distance. Just out of frame are the swaying palms and steel drums aloft on the salty breeze.

Construction of a Painting Final

16 in. x 20 in. Oil on Canvas. Chose to add swirling words that come in and out visually like ribbons so that the shoes remain the star and aren’t overpowered by the script. The look reminds me of vintage French posters by Toulouse Lautrec and I like that. “Black Suede Pumps” is listed for sale on the MyDailyPaint shop at Etsy.com for a steal at $85, if you would like it for your stylish living space, please grab it.

Constrution of a Painting Part 2

16 in. x 20 in. Oil on Canvas. Zeroing in how to recreate black suede Jimmy Choo’s using Ultramarine Blue, Madder Red, and black combined in variations. Mixed blacks (blue, red, and green) are always more vibrant than black from the tube. Maintaining fresh quality, looseness of strokes is foremost in mind and working in a short time frame of 45 min to 1 hr helps keep me from overworking the surface. Next stage is working the surrounding space in swirls of words. See tomorrow.
